This week, our Bible story emphasis is "Noah and the Flood," and we will talk about how our hands can help and serve.  We will sing "Mr. Noah Built an Ark, Splish, Splash, Splish, Splash, Splish" which is the same tune as "Old McDonald had a Farm" with our felt animals going into an ark.  We will also sing "He's Got the Whole World in His Hands" and "5 Little Ducks."  The following is a new song we will try this week called:

Johnny Works with One Hammer
Johnny works with one hammer,
One hammer, one hammer. (make hammering
  motion with right hand)
Johnny works with one hammer
Then he works with two.

Johnny works with two hammers . . .
(motion with left and right hands)
Johnny works with three hammers . . .
(motion with both hands and right foot)
Johnny works with four hammers . . .
(motion with both hands and both feet)
Johnny works with five hammers . . . (motion
with both hands and feet and with head)
Then he goes to bed.

For our art this week, we will paint Noah's ark brown and choose an animal pair to go in the ark.  For snack time, we will give each child an ingredient (Bunny Grahams, Cheerios, Goldfish, raisins, etc.) to add and stir into our snack bowl and then share.

During our opening time, we are starting a new project where the children will paint, color, stamp, etc. the different colored animals from the "Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?" book.  Over several weeks, when the animals are all finished, we will compile the pictures into special books they can bring home and maybe even read to you.  This week, along with our brown ark, we will start by painting brown bear using brown fake fur attached to clothes pins.

The children always enjoying playing "Sink or Float?" where we have a bag full of everydays items they will pick to place in a tub of water to see if the items sink or float.

Storytime this week includes "Big Red Barn," a Margaret Wise Brown story of rhythmic text about the cycle of a day on a farm, where a family of animals peacefully plays and sleeps.  Our second story is "Noah and the Mighty Ark" which retells our Bible story with beautiful pictures.

We are looking forward to a fun week.  God Bless!
Mrs. Shelly
